As a BIS software user for over ten years and just recently having the opportunity to view your video tutorial learning center, I was pleasantly surprised how informative and helpful I found these tutorials to be.
Some of the things I appreciate are the length of each topic tutorial- not too long, not too short with information covered in detail; Showing the BIS screen at all times- you can watch what icons are being selected and see reports; the speaker is very easy to understand- volume is good and you stay on topic and don’t jump around. I’ve watched over thirty of the videos so far and feel I can confidently use the BIS accounting system more efficiently after having viewed the tutorials. I first started using BIS construction software in May 1995 and at that time the software was a DOS version which was very easy to learn and operate. Our company was now able to keep track of all job related costs. This greatly helped us identify where we were profitable and not.
After the software changed to a “Windows” operating system many years ago, the entire conversion was very smooth due to MICS, Inc. being highly supportive and experts in construction software.
The software covers everything you can imagine or need.
Payroll is a weekly endeavor with my company as well as E.F.T.P.S. (Federal) tax payments which this software has always calculated accurately.
MICS, Inc. has always kept up with payroll tax changes for both Federal and State reporting.
I had an audit performed by a State auditor on my payroll a few years ago. He said after reviewing my payroll records for about four hours that in 17 years of auditing he has never seen such clean and accurate payroll records and could not find even a penny difference!

I am very pleased with the seamless integration of the ADP General Ledger Interface File Custom Application that we had you create for us. I was able to import my first ADP interface file and it went successfully without a hitch. After adding the one job and adding the cost code to the budget, the import came through, I balanced the batch and voila! I reviewed the job cost report and all of the transactions reported in the order we needed.

In our business it is important to have a current job cost available at all times. We really like the fact that the program is date sensitive.
It allows us to have numerous jobs going at the same time and we can use an endless number of cost codes. We can set up a budget for each job and track the expenses as needed.
The program has many reports available in each module. We can also make changes to some of the forms customizing them for our needs. We are able to get any report at any time and know that it will have current information.
It is very easy to track your entries when needed and is much easier to use than QuickBooks.
You can also close each month or keep them all open as needed. The "Lookup" capabilities are very useful and again makes this program user friendly and the periodical updates are downloadable and very easy to install.
If and when we do have issues we call and a support person is always available to assist us.
We have been very happy with the BIS accounting software and would recommend it to others.

Builderscape has been using the BIS Software program since 1993. It has been an easier program to learn and serves all the needs of our company. We use the program primarily for payroll and billing. We recently started using the schedule of values and AIA reporting features. This has been an incredible time savings for our crews.
As our company has changed over the years, BIS has been a great program to help us make those changes. Over the past few years, we have started doing more certified payroll jobs. BIS breaks down the certified hours easily and creates reports that are needed on a weekly basis. The reports feature is also another tool, we use on a regular basis. The best part is you don’t have to be a user on the program to understand and read the reports. It’s a great way to inform other employees of what is going on.
One of our favorite parts of BIS is the people. Your questions and concerns are not sent off to some third party contractor to answer. We have worked with the same people for years. All questions are answered in a timely manner and with a personal touch that you don’t get with a lot of software programs anymore.

It's easy to teach new users how to use the system. We find the reports easy to understand by the field people. The ability to export data to Excel and Word has been a huge time saver for us because of the Time and Materials work that we do. It gives the client a clean, easy set of reports with just the information that they need to see. I like that we can have up to nine entities set up in the system, if needed. It's helpful for small businesses to be able to implement individual modules as needed and as they can afford them. The "real time" posting of job costs is great. The fact that when we enter accounts payable invoices and when we write the checks, those costs go immediately to the jobs. This allows our field personnel to see an up to the minute report the same day as the payroll is posted. The payroll module alone saves our company $45,000 per year by allowing us to eliminate one person in overhead. Why you would send payroll out of house when this is so easy is beyond me! With BIS, we've got the information right now - not next week.
I’ve been asked to break down the type of work Clements performs and respond that 10% is focused strictly on safety, 25% on new construction, 20% on concrete (foundation) work, and 65% on TI/Relocation/Upgrades. Since that adds up to 120% I explain that Builder Information System (BIS) allows us to do that extra 20% work without running into overtime, which would be impossible to accomplish on regular time without the software.
I have recommended this construction software for small to midsize contractors for many years because of the price, ease of use, and for the ability of the system to expand as a business grows. I have been using BIS since 1994 and have always implemented all of the upgrades to the modules that we use. The upgrades always give us something that saves us time and therefore, saves us money. We are long-time users that will probably continue to be BIS users for years to come.

By that I mean it provides the contractor with all of the means and methods required to operate a construction business...from cradle to the grave, as it were.
